Rare lightweight sports machine...#84 of just 376 made
The Bimota BB1 Supermono was unveiled at the motorcycle show in Koln, Germany in 1995.

In typical Bimota fashion, a class leading engine is placed into an exotic chassis.
The engine in this instance is the single cylinder four-stroke 650 cc manufacturer produced by Rotax in Austria for BMW.  It delivers 48 horsepower at 6500rpm and is coupled to a five-speed gearbox.

Fuelling is provided by two Mikuni 33mm diameter carbs, and ignited by a twin plug cylinder head.

The frame is a mesh tubular aluminium as is the swing arm assembly.

Telescopic forks 43mm in diameter and the single rear shock were suplied by Paioli.  Braking is entrusted to Brembo, and inlcudes a floating disc with 320mm front and a 230mm disc fixed to the rear, respectively pinched by four clamps and two pistons. A second front brake disc was optional.

The wheels are of three s[oke and manufactured by Antera. Unusual for the period, mudguards and dressing of the instrument panel are made of cexpensive arbon fiber.

The fuel tank is not typically placed above the engine, but situated below the engine guard permitting a low center of gravity of the machine.

Upon release a competition pack was available from Bimota for an additional 10,000. This kit included a complete set of fairings, magnesium wheels, electronic fuel injection and a race suspension.

The prototype unveiled at Cologne in 1994 was a red fairing, tank and saddle shell white and yellow zig zag between the two parties.  The lower fairing sported the Italian and German flags. The first model presented was red and gray, but the Bimota logo fairing was replaced by the words "SM Super Mono".

In total, 524 BB1 were produced, of which 376 were Monoposto and 148 Biposto. They were sold respectively € 8780 and € 11,026.

This example was sold new in Japan and has travelled just 10,000km.  A full service and inspection will be completed in our workshop ready for delivery to a new owner.

Represents great value for a super rare motorcycle and a great machine to start a collection with.
